Revised Cooper Scale (RCS)

Based on a Jack Moore flute scale, supplied by Albert Cooper in 1978, and since revised.
It is for an Open Hole model (French Cups) and for either C or B foot.

C Foot    Tone Hole Diameters  B Foot    (B =0)
C 0   15.6    45.9
C# 43.6       82.1
D 76.8       115.3
Eb 110.2       148.7
........................................................................................................................................
E 140.4   14.1    178.9
F 169.4       207.9
F# 196.9       235.4
G 223.7       262.2
..........................................................................................................................................

G# 248.0   13.5    286.5
A 268.5       307.2
Bb 292.2       330.5
B 314.0       352.5
C 332.3 (or 333.3 if 12.8mm diameter is used)  370.8 (or 371.8 if 12.8mm)
..............................................................................................................................................
C# 363.3   6.5    401.8
(should be deeper than other holes by 0.5mm)
..............................................................................................................................................
D 382.8   7.5    421.3
D# 398.7       437.2

Notes.
* If required, a large C# trill should be the same diameter as the C natural and placed north of C by 18.5mm
* NB: the cup rise should be 3.5mm above the saddles at the front and more,  perhaps 4mm, for the foot. It is part of the design of the scale for good intonation.
* We would prefer larger right hand saddles, up to 14.4mm diameter. This slightly improves the ‘response’ of the RH notes.
Similarly, we suggest that G# benefits in the 3rd octave by a smaller saddle, perhaps between 12.5 and 12.8mm, the same as C.
* There are tests taking place at the moment to determine exactly what the closed hole/open hole displacement will be. We suspect it will 1.5mm but are trying to establish if the right and left hand open holes are different.
